Coincidence?

Four! How did that happen? I have been posting weekly for four years. It is hard to believe it has been that long. It’s hard to believe I have that much to say. How do I continue to have something to share? Is it all coincidence?

Recently, a friend asked me if I believe in coincidence. I said that I don’t. A couple of months ago, we forgot about the money needed to pay for our son’s drum lessons. He remembered after school and went to his dad’s classroom to collect the cash. Curt only had $27 on him. My son, who never has money, opened his wallet and had exactly $73. My husband saw it as coincidence. I saw it as a little reminder from God that he is in every detail of our lives.

23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives. (Psalm 37:23 NLT).

8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Matthew 6:8 ESV).

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you. (Psalm 139-17-18 ESV).

It is not a coincidence that I have had something to write. It’s not a coincidence that they had exactly $100.  God is in every detail in our lives. It is easy to see Him when writing about Him. It is easy to give him credit for each new idea. It is easy to thank Him for answered prayers. We have to look for Him in the finer details. He is there and when we see it our awe and wonder grows, our trust grows, our love deepens.

Once you start looking, you will be amazed at all the places where God is in the midst of our lives. That green light when you are running late, the extra discount at the store, an unexpected conversation, the schedule frees up and gives time for rest, these are all way that God is in the details of our lives.  It is time for me to start thanking Him more for the little things along with the gift of writing every week. The more I look for him, the more I see Him, and what joy that brings.

Do you believe in coincidence? How are you seeing God in the details of your life? Share your story here to breathe life and bring hope to others.
