With Confidence

Overwhelmed and overworked can leave a person to exhausted to even see what God is calling them to do. Our dreams become more faint. We question if they are even achievable. We question our intelligence and ability to make it happen. Our confidence is shaken and dwindling.

Does this sound familiar? There was a time as a new mom and wife that I felt distant from God’s calling on my life. I questioned if  I was smart enough to follow through. I questioned if my life’s dreams were just that, dreams, something to never be realized.

Stepping out in faith with confidence was something that felt very scary. It felt like jumping off a cliff. Yet, that is exactly what God calls  us to do. He calls us to take our place as part of the body, His Body. He calls us to accept that we have a significant role to play. His work can not be complete without us.

27-31 You are Christ’s body—that’s who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your “part” mean anything. You’re familiar with some of the parts that God has formed in his church, which is his “body”:

apostles
prophets
teachers
miracle workers
healers
helpers
organizers
those who pray in tongues. (1 Corinthians 27-31 MSG).

The dreams that God planted in my spirit as a young college student were his calling on my life. How it has been lived out has shifted, but how He uniquely created me to be a part of the body has not. I needed to be willing to step back into that calling. I needed to reclaim what He uniquely planted within in me to do. It wasn’t easy nor quick.  Slowly, I regained my confidence. Slowly, I have been able to live into this promise.

35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV).

Don’t throw away your confidence. Step into God’s unique calling on your life. You will never be the same. Leaning on Him in times of fear and stepping off the cliff has been the best decision. I have grown into a better more confident person, and I have been richly rewarded beyond my dreams.

What part of the Body are you? What unique gifts has God planted within you? He made you to live out a life of significance. Are you ready to step into it?

How have you stepped out with confidence? Share your experiences here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
