Thankful for Sacrifice

During this celebration of Independence, I want to take a quick moment to be thankful for the sacrifice so many have made for my freedoms. This picture of my dad in a foxhole during WWII is my constant reminder of the many ways others have sacrificed for me.

Christ made the ultimate sacrifice for me, and I, too, am called to sacrifice for God.

6 I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you;
I will praise your name, Lord, for it is good.
7 You have delivered me from all my troubles,
and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes. (Psalm 54:6-7 NIV)

Here is what I am asking myself this Independence Day, “What am I willing to sacrifice for someone else to know freedom in Christ?” It’s a big ask. One I don’t think about enough. The gift of living in this country is great. The gift of freedom through Christ is greater. As I reflect on these sacrifices and what I have because of them, I know I have work to do.

It what ways are you thankful for sacrifice? Share your story here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
