It’s the new year. It’s a great time to reflect on the year past and create a vision for the year to come. I often find that the year that has past has not gone as planned. Some of my goals are met while some are not. My goals and plans for the year have been met with surprises. God shows up in unexpected ways. He alters the plans and makes them better. There are still places where I fall short. Yet, I hear Him calling me to dream bigger.
This does leave me asking myself, if my goals never work out as planned, why do I bother setting goals? Maybe I should just lt life happen. The problem with that is God calls us to partner with him in this life. We are called to be a the light of Christ in the world. Unmet goals doesn’t equal the wrong goals. I need to reaffirm what God is calling me to and adjust course. I need to dream bigger.
In Jeremiah 29 God tells us that He has a purpose and a plan for us, to prosper us. Jeremiah and these scriptures remind me that He has great plans for me and to keep working toward the goals.
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV).
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:20 NIV),
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7 NIV),
“May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” (Psalm 20:4 NIV).
Taking time to review the past year and plan for the new one is time well spent. It reminds me of the great plans God has for each one of us. It encourages me to continue the path before me. It tells me that I need to dream bigger, God sized dreams not Mary sized dreams. I need to stop putting human limits on what God can and wants to do through us.
I’m ready to face the new year and work hard for all things God is calling me to. I’m ready to dream bigger. How about you? What is God calling you to in the new year? Share your dreams here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
