I had the privilege of attending the Global Leadership Network summit. One of the biggest take always for me was, “faithfulness is boring.” Yep, I questioned it at first, but it makes complete sense.

Craig Groeschel kicked off the event with this nugget. He talked about consistent good habits building success. He gave this formula – (consistency + faithfulness) X time= lasting impact. It is not fast. He reminds us that life and leadership are the sum total of all the small decisions we make throughout each day.

These small decisions are boring habits that add up over time. It’s the small things. The commitment to daily prayer, devotions, journaling etc keeps us focused on God. These small unseen habits keep us centered and assist us in making good decisions. Yet, faithfulness is boring.

10-13 Jesus went on to make these comments: If you’re honest in small things,
    you’ll be honest in big things;
If you’re a crook in small things,
    you’ll be a crook in big things.
If you’re not honest in small jobs,
    who will put you in charge of the store?
No worker can serve two bosses:
    He’ll either hate the first and love the second
Or adore the first and despise the second.
    You can’t serve both God and the Bank. (Luke 16: 10-13 MSG)
.

This challenged me to evaluate my habits. I have some good habits. Exercise and prioritizing sleep prevent rash decisions and make me a nicer human. What about my faith habits? Are they ingrained in my being? Do I crave time in prayer? Honestly, at times I crave exercise and I always crave a good nights sleep. Habits that are deeply ingrained are missed when I slip off schedule like when I go on vacation. Do I miss a time in devotion in the same way? Is this ingrained in my being? If I’m honest, the answer is no. Why? Because it is boring, faithfulness is boring. I am rethinking and adjusting my habits. I want to be trusted to do big things.

How are your habits? Do you have some adjusting to do? Will God trust you with big things? Share your story here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
