Is the word

Is The Word

Is the word

Jesus is the word. Jesus is not just a messenger of God’s message. Not simply a teacher explaining truth. Jesus is the Word itself.

If I am honest, this is not something I have spent much time thinking about. My mind tends to separate the two. The Word feels like Scripture—something written, studied, analyzed, and interpreted. Jesus feels like a person—someone I pray to, learn from, and try to follow. Keeping them separate somehow feels easier for my brain to organize.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it…14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-5, 14 NIV).

The Word is God revealed in the person of Jesus. The Word reveals what love is in the world-not a concept or a feeling but an action. Love is sacrifice. Love is forgiveness. Love is support. Love is boundaries, self-care, neighbor first, justice, mercy, grace and so much more.

Jesus is the word. That realization invites me to read Scripture differently. Not simply looking for principles or answers, but looking for Jesus. Where is He revealed? What does this passage show about His character? How does this story move the larger story of redemption forward?

Maybe the Word was never meant to be separated from the person.
