Remodeling

We often think of remodeling as something that takes place in our homes or businesses. We can remodel our lives if we choose. So often we delay getting the work done similar to this ceiling replacement.

Several years ago a flood in the kitchen above damaged the ceiling below it. We went had several ideas on how to fix it, but it wasn’t high on the priority list. The damage wasn’t interfering with using the space.

Last fall my husband bought the materials to fix the ceiling thinking fall was the perfect time to take on the project. The materials sat and sat. This past weekend finally became the time to begin the remodeling project. Since tearing down the old sheetrock, he decided to include all new lighting which will greatly improve the space but wasn’t necessary.

12 “This is what the Lords says: “‘Your wound is incurable,
your injury beyond healing. 13 There is no one to plead your cause,
no remedy for your sore, no healing for you.
14 All your allies have forgotten you; they care nothing for you.
I have struck you as an enemy would and punished you as would the cruel,
because your guilt is so great and your sins so many.
15 Why do you cry out over your wound, your pain that has no cure?
Because of your great guilt and many sins I have done these things to you. 16 “‘But all who devour you will be devoured; all your enemies will go into exile.
Those who plunder you will be plundered; all who make spoil of you I will despoil.
17 But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord, (Jeremiah 30:12-17 NIV).

Here is what I have experienced. When I finally stop putting off the work I need to do to restore my soul, my wellbeing, my mental health and allow God to bring me through it, I get more than I expected. I have received the great improvement beyond what was needed or expected. The best thing I have ever done is trust God with my personal remodeling.

Do you trust Him? Are you willing to become vulnerable and take on some remodeling? Share your experience here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
