Life brings lots of twists and turns. Having a new calling is not surprising. Even in spring as life begins to bloom things can change course.
Previous choices have always been my choice knowing that it was time to move in a new direction. It was guided by a sense of knowing that comes from the Holy Spirit. I always sensed God’s call in a new direction with new purpose and new growth.
This time it is clear there is a new calling in front of me. This time I have no sense of being guiding in a purposeful direction. Instead it feels like I am wandering, trying on different possibilities, waiting for something to stick. I feel directionless.
Yet, while I don’t know what is next or where this journey is taking me, I know God has not left me. I know He has not completed what He promised. So, I wait – impatiently. I don’t like this space in between what was and what will be. And, I choose to trust the promise. I am not alone.
13 There above it[c] stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac.I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.[d] 15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” 16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” (Genesis 28:13-16 NIV).
When a new calling comes, it comes and allowing the space around waiting to also form me has been very challenging. I hold hope for a glimpse into what is next soon. Many of us have change forced on us and I trust God will use it to draw us closer to him. Growth and purpose are still in my grasp.
