But there’s more has become my new catch phrase. There is more to this life. There is more to this adventure with God, and there is more to this family.
I have been on a mission to come up with a simple family adventure for this summer. I have this sense of urgency to create fun family memories with my boys before they graduate. I have been investigating places to go zip lining. I think it would be scary and fun for us to step out of our comfort zones together. Of course I haven’t told my husband about this yet. He is a little less adventurous than I am and not a fan of heights. I kind of like to challenge myself in new ways-usually.
Recently, God has been nudging me to take some steps in a new direction with writing and speaking. I, however, am reluctant and scared. Apparently, I would rather attach myself to a small cable and jump off a cliff than follow God in this new direction. As ludicrous as it reads, that is what my heart has been struggling with these past weeks.
Just yesterday, as I was driving to work, God brought to mind my testimony. He is not an indifferent bystander. He will completely restore everyone to wholeness of heart and mind. What He did for me, He will do for you. There is nothing special about me. It’s how great His love is for all His children.
That’s when I heard it, “But there’s more.” God was reminding me that He has more planned for my story. There are more people who need to hear it. It’s generally not good to start my day crying before 8:00 am, but I was so humbled. He is asking me to empower others to seek and experience wholeness through Christ. How can I turn away from that? Why am I anxious and afraid?
12-13 So don’t sit around on your hands! No more dragging your feet! Clear the path for long-distance runners so no one will trip and fall, so no one will step in a hole and sprain an ankle. Help each other out. And run for it! Hebrews 12:12-13 MSG.
Risk and adventure can also be scary, but no more sitting on my hands and dragging my feet. I’m choosing to embrace, “But there’s more.” God continually calls us to more. There is more to our relationship with Him. There is more wholeness in Him. He has a purpose and plan for our lives. I do know this, every risk I have taken with Him has brought me more than I have given.
“But there’s more” is for you too. He has more for you. Scripture tells us it’s more than you can dream or imagine. Are you ready to embrace it? Are you ready to take the risk? He is right there with you every step of the way. Let’s do this together. Share below your story and we can encourage each other.
Mary, I LOVE this! I was just thinking to myself last night that I’ve stagnated. I feel aimless and I need a challenge from God (yikes! Did I just say that!?). Wishing you courage as you jump off those cliffs God is leading you to. Stay well, my friend!
Jane
