Notice Me

Notice Me

God is at work all around us. It is like He is saying, “Notice me.” With all the noise in the world it is easy to miss His handiwork; His answered prayers. Social media encourages us to focus on ourselves and what divides us. It is easy to lose site of little miracles that happen all around us.

Kellen came home from work with a very red and light sensitive eye. It was too late in the evening to get to the eye doctor, so we waited until morning. By morning, his eye looked worse and was more painful. The doctor was very concerned and said that he had a corneal ulcer. He had scratched his cornea and now it was infected. The next 24 hours were critical for him to keep his sight in that eye. Kellen had drops that needed to be put in his eye every hour in hopes that there would be some improvement by the next day.

I started texting and calling on my prayer warriors to pray for complete healing. Friends and family were enlisted. This mom was in beg God mode.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NIV).

The next day, the doctor was impressed by the 80% improvement in his eye. He called it remarkable. I felt the nudge of God saying “Notice me.” Kellen didn’t seem concerned or overjoyed by the report. I told Kellen about all the people who’d been praying for him and healing. I reminded him that an 80% improvement was remarkable because God wanted us to know that He was involved in the healing.

It was the prefect reminder that God is always at work around me. I need to be looking for it. I need to take notice and give thanks. And, in some cases, help my kiddos see that too.
