That moment when someone says or I read exactly the right words to impact my current circumstances reminds me that God is near. My current devotional has felt like it was written perfectly for my current life challenges. It has given me exactly the words I need to read.
On Sunday, I lead our prayer time as I do most weeks. Normally, it goes smoothly, but this week felt off. When I sat down, I started to question if what I said made sense. I tried recalling my words. I couldn’t be certain that I had articulated a complete thought.
When the service was over, the woman behind me commented on the prayer being meaningful to her. I started to laugh and told her what had been running through my mind. God used her to give me the right words exactly when I needed them.
14 God gives a hand to those down on their luck, gives a fresh start to those ready to quit. 15 All eyes are on you, expectant; you give them their meals on time. 16 Generous to a fault, you lavish your favor on all creatures. 17 Everything God does is right—the trademark on all his works is love. 18 God’s there, listening for all who pray, for all who pray and mean it. (Psalm 145: 14-18 NIV).
This gives me hope and reassurance when I have needed it. It reminds me that God hears and cares about my circumstances. It reminds to give thanks for the little ways God brings comfort. It reminds me to trust when it seems easier to give up.
