It is a leap of faith to believe that Christ is alive and working in my life. Throughout my life there have been doubt. There has been times of questioning. Thomas would say that seeing is believing.
Jesus Appears to Thomas
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
I might not see Jesus’ body, but He is at work in my life. If seeing is believing, there is evidence everywhere if I’m willing to see. Sometimes, He shows up in big ways. He took away my rage and sense of dirtiness from the sexual abuse. Sometimes, He shows up in little ways. He overwhelms my heart with peace when I should be anxious and angry. He provides financial resources when needed. He aligns dates for the perfect family event. The key is I look for the places Christ is at work in my life.
These phrases might seem cliche, but they are true in my life. I hope you find truth in them, as well.
- He does impossible things
- His love endures forever
- He give a peace that surpasses understanding
- He gives grace freely to everyone
- He cares about your specific situation
- He still does miracles
