Touched by Jesus

Being touched by Jesus is a profoundly holy moment. Something within you changes. Words can’t describe it. It is as if your being shifted on its axis. Healing occurs. Deep connection is made. Relationships change.

I was at gym where I worked. Jackson was a baby and I was reentering the work world after a challenging first year as a mom. I was working with a new client. She and I were just starting to get to know each other. She shared her rocky journey into motherhood. I briefly shared mine. Then it was like the world stopped. We both stopped talking. We both teared up. We looked at each other and I finally said, “You get it.” She nodded.

Friends and family had expressed the prayers and concern. Yet, it was clear they didn’t understand the experience and that was lonely. A baby with heart disease was all consuming, surgery, a hospital stay and countless visits to the emergency department and cardiologist. Self care was not happening. A small moment of being seen, understood and connected brought healing I didn’t know I needed. I was touched by Jesus.

40 A man with leprosy[h] came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” 41 Jesus was indignant.[i] He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,”he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. (Mark 1:40-42 NIV).

Jesus used touch as a sign of compassion and healing. This was often done defying social or religious rules such as touching someone unclean. Jesus isn’t here to physically touch us, but the Spirit moves through us in holy moments to allow us to experience the touch of Jesus.

Have you been touched by Jesus? Have you been healed, connected or transformed in a profound way through the Spirit? Share your experience here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
