Full circle

Full Circle

Full circle

If we are paying attention, we will see that generosity is full circle. It requires that I stop and look for it. It is easy for me to take note of my generosity to others, however I don’t always notice the blessings that come my way. Sometimes they are small but meaningful.

A friend of the family was out deer hunting and shot a large buck. The deer didn’t go down immediately. As he was tracking the deer, a game warden came along and offered to help. It quickly became apparent the deer wasn’t going down any time soon, so at the warden’s suggestion the hunter paused for lunch.

When he returned to the woods the game warded said he’d found the deer. It turned out another hunter had shot the deer as well. Our friend described the deer to the warden and the warden said it was definitely his deer. The other hunter offered to take him to the deer. He had gutted it and it was hanging in his garage. To which our friend said, you keep it just send me a picture of the rack. The other hunter graciously accepted. As they walked away, the game warded said, “I know that family. They can really use the meat.”

Our friend went back out hunting the next morning. Not having any success, he went back to his truck where he found a package of deer meet waiting for him. His generosity had come full circle.

23 The desires of good people lead straight to the best, but wicked ambition ends in angry frustration. 24 The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. 25 The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped. (Proverbs 11:23-25 NIV).

Hearing this story reminds me that the world of the generous indeed gets larger and larger. That is the kind of world I want to live in.
