God is in the details of every aspect of our lives. I have often had the thought, “That’s so minor, God doesn’t have time for that.” Why is it we think God only cares about big, life changing aspects of life? The truth is He cares about tiniest details of our lives. Here is proof.
For years, I have thought it would be fun to perform a marriage ceremony. I know most people wouldn’t consider that fun, but I have always been a little odd. Maybe it’s because I’m too old to be a bridesmaid. However, I didn’t want to officiate a ceremony for just anyone. It had to be a couple I cared about. When my niece became engaged, I told God, “It would be fun to officiate for them. It’s too bad I’m not an ordained pastor.” I assumed this little desire would always be a dream. It was a minor detail in the grand scheme of life.
Last December, my niece and her fiance asked me to perform their marriage ceremony. I about fell over. I said, “I’m not ordained. I can’t.” They replied, “If Joey from Friends (TV show) can do it, you can do it.” I was terrified and excited. I told the couple I would see what I could figure out.
Could this really be happening? Was I really going to officiate a wedding? My main concern was working with an organization that supported my Christian beliefs. It didn’t take long to work out the details because God was in the details.
God Knows Everything
139 Lord, you have examined me
and know all about me.
2 You know when I sit down and when I get up.
You know my thoughts before I think them.
3 You know where I go and where I lie down.
You know everything I do.
4 Lord, even before I say a word,
you already know it.
5 You are all around me—in front and in back—
and have put your hand on me.
6 Your knowledge is amazing to me;
it is more than I can understand. (Psalm 139 NCV)
God knows everything and cares deeply about those details in our hearts. It was incredible to share in a personal way the special day of my niece and her now husband. It was a beautiful day. When I pause to reflect on how God answered this little prayer, I’m awestruck that He cares so deeply for all of His children including me.
God is in the details of our lives. He loves to have His children delight in Him and His gifts. This was a gift. Have you taken time to notice how God is in the details of your life? Look around. He is there. Share your stories here and encourage others.
