Uncertainty

Sometimes the road ahead is filled with uncertainty. We can’t see around the bend. The road disappears ahead. Instinct tells us to slow down and be cautious. We look for obstacles or sudden changes in direction. Our breathing gets faster. Our anxiety starts to rise. The comfort of knowing what is ahead is in the past

Uncertainty shows up in many places. It can be changes with employment. It can be within relationships, health, and more. It lives on the edge of fear with a touch of anticipation. I often feel like I am waffling between the two.

Health choices and work changes have me struggling with uncertainty. Anxiety mixed with anticipation starts to rise and I hold fast to scriptures that remind me not to fear. I have to actively remind myself that God has me, always has and always will. Uncertainty tries to rattle my trust, but reading these reminders regularly keeps me grounded.

1-3 God is a safe place to hide,
    ready to help when we need him.
We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom,
    courageous in sea storm and earthquake,
Before the rush and roar of oceans,
    the tremors that shift mountains.     Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us. (Psalm 46: 1-3 MSG).

10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41: 10 NIV).

There are a lot of scriptures to remind us that God has us. The key is choosing one and reading it every time you are on the edge of fear. Uncertainty will show up over and over again in life and we can create a plan to tame it.

What is your plan? How do you face uncertainty? Do you have a scripture ready? Share your experience here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
