This song What He’s Done has been at the top of my playlist the last few months. Every once in a while a song takes me to my knees, brings tears to my eyes and reminds me of the power of the cross. This is one of those songs.
The song overwhelms me with what He’s done in my life. Countless prayers have been answered including those of a little girl who dreamed of a loving husband and healthy, compassionate children. So many things in my life could have derailed that dream. Childhood sexual abuse and the mental health struggles that come with it could have sent my life in a very different direction. Somehow hope would find me in my darkest hours and remind me that tomorrow brings anew. Somehow a glimmer of light would propel me forward when I didn’t have the strength to do it myself.
The words from the first verse is all need for gratitude to take hold:
See, on the hill of Calvary
My Savior bled for me
My Jesus set me free
And look at the wounds that give me life
Grace flowing from His side
No greater sacrifice
Follow that with the words that tell me death doesn’t win and what He’s done in my life challenges me to continue to tell others of the power of the cross.
5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” (Matthew 28:5-7 NIV).
