Best Days of My Life

Best days of my life

Living the best days of my life, in my mind, usually involves vacation. It gives me a short period of time when I don’t have a care in the world. My stress level is low, and my sense of adventure is high. Recently, I realized my best life is the rest of my life.

I struggle with eczema. Previously, it only flared if I ate gluten. Over the last couple of years it has flared for what seems like no reason at all. Western medicine can help me tolerate the itch, but it doesn’t help me get to root of why it is flaring up. I was on the search for someone who practiced functional medicine. I was searching and praying for someone to help me get to the root of my itching.

I ran into a friend at work. We did the typical post COVID catch up. She shared about a new doctor she was seeing. It was clear to me that this was the answer to my prayers and I made an appointment. I knew at the initial appointment that I was in the right place.

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. (Matthew 6:30-33 MSG).

After two weeks of treatment, the bulk of my spots and itching were gone. I was elated. As I was driving home from the appointment that day, the chorus to a Lincoln Brewster song, Best Days, went through my head.

With everything that You’ve started in me
I believe that You will be faithful And I receive everything that You’re doing in me
And I believe that the rest of my life
Will be the best days of my life

That became my prayer the rest of the drive home. God was clearly doing His best for me and attending to my needs. How about you? How is God attending to your needs? Do you receive what God is doing in your life? Are you living the best days of your life? Share your experience here and breathe life and bring hope to others.
