The transformer changes us in deep almost unimaginable ways. No, I don’t mean the child’s toy or movie character. God is my transformer. When I look back at the many ways I have been changed, I am humbled and grateful for God’s work in my life.
During church, the pastor challenged us to think about how we would respond to the question, “Who do you say that I am?” Several people were put on the spot to answer the question, myself included. Responses by others included, my Savior, my guide, the one who is always with me. My answer was, “The One who transforms the things within me that I never thought could change.”
The transformer set me free from the strongholds of childhood sexual abuse and rape. He restored by heart allowing me to trust again. He showed me that love wins. He inspired me to share my story with others. It is God’s desire that all of us know deep healing.
Soak me in your laundry and I’ll come out clean,
scrub me and I’ll have a snow-white life.
Tune me in to foot-tapping songs,
set these once-broken bones to dancing.
Don’t look too close for blemishes,
give me a clean bill of health.
God, make a fresh start in me,
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life. (Psalm 51:7-10 MSG).
It can be hard to imagine a life not dictated by fear. It’s hard to contemplate life without gnawing anxious thoughts. God can and will make us new, set us free and change us in deep unimaginable ways. I am living proof and there is nothing special about me.
